exhaust stacks

There is a guy here in Tucson with a 02' F-450. He was able to shift the bed back about 4-8 inches on the frame. This gave him just enough room to run dual stacks mounted verticaly behind the cab. Looks really good . He used flappers on the top of each stack. I have noticed that there is a little heat discolorization on the paint next to each stack. He said he originaly left only enough room for the exahaust stack but later had to revamp the project to allow more room for the heat guards. That solved the heat problem. The only real drwaback is that his rear wheels aren't centered in the wheel wells. He said he doen't leave the paved road very much so he doesn't have to worry about the suspension allowing the weels to come that high into the bed.

Hope that helps!

Most of the ones I've seen come up one pipe into the bed and then split once its in the bed, this is usually hidden behind a tool box so all you see is the two stacks coming up. Never heard of putting them in between the cab and bed, I don't think I could get past the look of the tires offcentered in the wheel well.
I think they look cool but I don't think they would look right on mine with my headache rack. Just make sure you have some smoke to go with them.

What made these look good was that the stack and heat shield started right at the level of the cab step and then went to about a foot over the cab. I've seen the in bed installations but I've never really been impressed. This guy nailed the Big Rig look for his truck. If I see him around I'll get some pictures for you guys.
