Cowl Lacing

What's up with the Dennis Carpenter cowl lacing, on their website it states fits 73-79 but inside the actual package there's a disclaimer stating the "cowl lacing must be shortened for 73-77 trucks".

Is there a difference between the 73-77 and 78-79 cowl?

I got the DC Cowl lacing ~ 1 1/2 years ago and I did have a cut some excess off. All the lacing's rubber tangs lined up with the mounting holes. I'm very happy with it and hope you will be as well.

After installing it I am pleased with it. I don't have a 78/79 to look at and compare, are their cowls where the lacing mounts to wider than the 73/77 trucks?

I got a chance to look at a buddies '79 today, the 78/79 have one additional mounting hole for the cowl lacing and the lacing covers an additional 4" of the cowl compared to the 73/77 trucks.

I like the way Ford improved upon it for 78/79, it does add an additional 2" of coverage on either side. Not a huge deal I suppose but it looks better as well.

I had no idea that the cowl lacing was called cowl lacing lol.

I would have thought it was called a "hood seal" or "hood gasket". Great info for future reference on my build.

It is somewhat odd terminology, "hood seal" would be a much more accurate description of the parts function.
