53 Ford F500 Widow Maker Replacements
I am so confused. I have 7 widow maker rims. 5 have 7.00/20 tires mounted on them and two have 7.50/20 tires mounted on them. I need to replace 6 of the rims (I don’t need a spare). I came up with rim size of 5x8 (5 lugs on 8” pattern) this was done by measuring from outside edge of stud to center of stud directly across. I am not sure if I did this right. I found some rims but hate to pay $1600 (not including tires) if they don’t fit because I measured wrong. I guess I need to go up to 22.5. I will post some pictures of my wheels to show what I have. I have had a difficult time finding anyone that has these. I’m just worried I measured wrong and will order the wrong ones. I think I need 5x8x22.5. I’m not even sure if this correct? Does diameter of hub come into play at all?
The rims are dual mounted on back. Using Budd system (I think). I have a special wrench to take nut and stud off. Not sure how to do this either. I know, LET AIR OUT FIRST BEFORE DOING ANYTHING, and don’t stand in front. So are all six rims the same? Just that two are mounted backwards.
Please help straighten me out. I appreciate all the help so far.

5 lug 22.5s are going to be hard to find, if you find them at all.
Post 4 from Truckdog has some info. Since you were running 700/750s, the 19.5 option may work.

Finding a used set of locking side ring 20” wheels would be a reasonably economical solution, and would allow you to match your current tire size. The below partial set of four is on eBay, and has been a while. I tried to get the seller to help me identify their Budd number or back spacing for another member but never got anywhere. Assuming they all match you would at least have a set to mount on the rear of your truck. Then finding two more wouldn’t be that hard to mount on your front. I have a couple here in IL, or you could do yard searches of your own or others may speak up.
The 19.5s are another modest cost option, but you’d have to do a yard search there too. They will have a shorter tire diameter. The 8R19.5” tires are about 34” tall versus yours that are 36-37” tall. Stu

Just double checking. The wheels on the driver side of the truck should have left hand threads? So I turn clockwise to loosen. Counter clockwise to tighten. The wheels on the passenger side should be right hand thread meaning I turn counter clockwise to loosen and clockwise to tighten. Is this correct? I looked for an L marking but can’t see anything.

Yeah, that link that Kevin found is good for a partial set of four 5x8” 22.5s. Those in combo with two of the factory new repop’s from Wheels Now or one of the other sellers is a good solution too. Stu
