2015 Ford F250 6.7, 30,000 miles My a/c started acting up a couple of months ago, one issue was fixed on 5/17/18 but it still wasn't cooling like it has in the past. So. I took it back tothe dealer on 6/15/18 and had them check it along with a check engine light for the crankcase(this was replaced last year around the same time). This time they told me everything was fine with the a/c its hot outside so it wont cool the same. This is my third summer with this truck and I have never had an a/c issue. This is what is happening. It blows cool air but not the cold air it has blown in the past. About every 15-20 seconds it warms up and the air that comes out has a faint smell and then it goes back to cool air but not cold. Its almost like it thinks its getting too cold even though its not. Sensor maybe?? I don't know. I know they checked the pressures but I don't think they have checked the evaporator sensor or blend doors. I drive this truck daily and I know when things aren't right.
So, with that being said, I made an appointment at another dealer for this past Monday. I'm thinking yay it's finally going to get fixed. I get there Monday just to have the service guy tell me that my expectations for the a/c in 110 degree heat are way too high. It's fine but I can keep it for 4-6 days but I'm pretty sure nothing is wrong with it. I got a little ticked and came back home because I needed the truck today. Once again, I have not had this issue the last 2 summers.
Fast forward to tomorrow, I have set up another appointment in hope of getting my a/c back up to par.
Any suggestions or advise?
PS Does anyone know what the issue is with crankcase separator assembly? It was replaced 6/26/17 and 6/15/18. Is this going to be an ongoing problem?
Maybe try an a/c shop instead of Ford for at least a diagnosis. If the a/c shop finds the problem, take it to Ford for the actual repair if it’s covered under the warranty.
Your Super-Duty should be cold enough to hang meat, even on the hottest Nevada days. Compared to other vehicles, the condenser and evaporator are way oversized.
I would be very interested in knowing your hi/lo pressures, air inlet/outlet temps and temps on your hi/lo freon lines at evaporator. Borrow a set of gauges or take it to an independent AC shop to obtain the facts. If service is indeed warranted, as I suspect it is, take facts to Dealer and ask that they take care of it.
PS -do you have Climate Control or basic manual controls?

It is climate control. I have never had to run max a/c until a couple months ago and that doesn't even help. If they can't come up with a solution I will be taking it else where to get a diagnosis. Yes, it is under warranty. .
I just dropped the truck off at the other dealer. The service manager came over and I told him what the a/c was doing. He immediately opened the hood and told me to start the truck and turn the a/c on. He thinks it's the evaporator. Fingers crossed, I hope they get it fixed. I will follow up with any info or diagnoses.
Post your update. Mine felt like it wasn't cooling the other day it was hot outside and I told my wife it didn't feel right but she said it felt like it was cooling.
I had the battery disconnected all day Saturday while I've changed my seat base it to power seat base and rebooked the battery up and it's been great ever since.
I just figured it's been so hot out and my vehicle is dark gray with a black dash but these last few days have been murderous with the heat and it's worked great .
My pressures were 36-37 on the high side with ac on high and clutch compressor engaged before and now with it working well. No codes.
Well, I just picked the truck up. No surprise here, but they could not find the problem. At this point I am going to take it some where else and get a diagnosis. After driving the Jeep Cherokee the air problem seems even worse. They said air temps were at 53-55, temps use to be 35-40. Pressures, low side 35-30, high side 150-200. I do not think they checked the evaporator or the condenser even though the service manager thought that was the problem. It's becoming very frustrating and time consuming. Hopefully I will get this figured out.
Word of advice. If it is still "in warranty" it must be "in" barely, by time. It's under on miles but as soon as 3 years hits its out of warranty. You will likely not get any support the day after 3 years, I could be wrong but from my experience, I'm not. Keep good records and keep after them. Go to another dealer(s). This could be a very expensive fix if it's coming out of your pocket. Then again it could be something simple that the first dealer's tech is just not seeing.
It needs a fresh set of eyes. Take it to someone who knows what they are doing and knows this control system and what to look for on the computer diagnostics screen while it's hooked up. Look for a large volume truck dealer, not a car dealer.
I'm not sure how someone can open the hood of a vehicle and diagnose a bad evaporator core visually? That's the little radiator looking part enclosed in the dash assembly.
If the hi and low pressures are in spec and the pump is cycling properly depending on what the ambient temps are then its a control problem. Could be the climatic controller could be the notorious wandering blend door actuators or a switch that is on the edge.

From my experience the Hi/Lo line pressures are in the "good range and should be delivering a nice and chilly experience Feel the HP line coming off the condenser, it should be not much higher temp than ambient (If it is really hot to the touch there is an issue w/ condenser). Feel the discharge line coming off evaporator, it should be in the range of 50 deg F, not freezing cold nor clammy cool. From what I am hearing I am leaning toward an issue w/ climate controls or dampeners. Would be most interested in findings by good independent shop. Getting warmer out there, hope you get it fixed up soon.
