Blend door
I have read many posts and responses on different forums concerning this topic but have never seen a post with my symptoms. I have a 2003 F350, 7.3L, automatic, 4X4. When I back out of the driveway in the morning, after I remove my foot from the brake pedal, I hear the blend door close or open, which ever it does for AC, and I have good cold air from the correct vents. It takes a few starts and stops to get on the open road and once the starts and stops end it starts blowing hot air. If I come back into traffic and have to apply my brakes for slow downs or a traffic light, then upon moving again, I'll hear the door close again and my cold air is back. My thinking is that the on/off switch is built into the vacuum pump and it's limits have changed slightly. I may also have a small vacuum leak so when driving with no stops my vacuum drops a little allowing the blend door to open at least partially. Then when I apply the brakes, the vacuum drops low enough to turn the vacuum pump back on and everything works correctly again. Does this make sense to anyone?
