Fuel Pressure?
I didn't check the fuel pressure yet, but I will tomorrow.
Here's what happened....
I have a 98 F150, 4.2L V-6, with a little over 200K miles...
Recently, I've been having trouble with the battery dying if she sits still for the whole weekend. But the battery is fairly new.
The rear window leaks a little bit, and there's some rust on the roof that needs to be dealt with too.
I only mention that because someone might recognize the symptoms... and it might possibly be related? I'm sure there's a short somewhere...
So anyways, this morning the battery was low, and I had to put it on the charger for a half hour to get 'er fired up. I drove about a mile or two, shut 'er down for about 3-4 minutes, and then she wouldn't start up anymore.
When I tried to start it back up, I could hear the fire... "puh-puh-puh"... but it just wouldn't ignite.... Stepping on the gas only made it worse...
Imo, it sounded like fuel starvation. But I know for a fact that there's at least 8-10 gallons in the tank.
So, my main questions are;
Should I check or test anything else before I throw a fuel pump at it?
Are there any wiring connections that are known to fail?
Thanks in advance!
Jim
First, if the battery is not being. charged, find out why.
Is. the Alternator faulty?
With low voltage at cranking other electrics don't work to well.
The battery was dead again this morning. It was cranking good yesterday when I was trying to get er to start.
I charged it up and did the fuel pressure test. There's no pressure at all.
I'm gonna check the relay right now, are there any other wires to check?
