Since ive owned the eX when I have it set to Vents, AC or Max AC at and of the speeds it will randomly switch from Vents to Defrost and back to Vents. Any guesses on why this may be happening?
Sounds like you have a leaky vacuum line somewhere, the doors that control where the air comes out are vacuum operated and a leak causes the vent to default to the defrost position.
That sounds like it should be fun to track down lol Thanks
Pretty simple actually. I’d start by replacing the vacuum hub hoses from the bracket that also holds the brake lines in each fender well to the hubs. If that doesn’t fix it go back one run and so on. My pump was bad so I replaced it and plugged my vacuum lines to the hubs and installed Warn manual hubs. Problem solved!

hmm.....ya know I do have a 4wd issue as well. The auto hubs dont seem to be engaging. Seems like a damn good place to start. Thanks man

My hubs were engaging on their own and the front driveshaft was turning all the time. Not good for MPG or front end to be turning all the time. I’m not sure WTF Ford engineers were thinking when they tied vacuum hubs in with the blend door actuator. Manual hubs and plug the vacuum hose at the pump and forget about it!
I'm no expert on this but I think it is called a PVH solenoid and it is located right behind the battery on the passenger side. I used to have an intermittent problem with the defrost and AC. Then it only worked on defrost all the time. I changed the solenoid and everything is works well now. It was about a $40 part. Worth a shot!
