Question 97 4.2-Click...Click

Ok...Simple question...97 F150 4.2 - Have had no problems, at all, with my truck, that is, until yesterday morning.

Started fine frist thing, moved it about 10 feet, shut it off...tried to leave a couple hours later...turned the key...click...click. Not a rapid 'clicking', just one click.

Went through normal panic procedures...charged battery...replaced battery...and still...click...click. Next idea, for me, would be the starter, but, my knowledge of these "high tech" autos is very limited.

Is there a solenoid/switch/fuse, or some other 'high tech something' that would/could be the problem?

Please help.

When a starter goes bad, it usually makes a God-awful scratching sound. What about the alternator? Maybe take it off and get it checked at a local auto store or mechanic?

Thank you, true4.2 for your quick response.

After I posted here, I did run to the parts store and present the problem to them. One of the guys suggested checking the connections around my starter. LOL..it couldn't be the obvious. But, it was. One wiggle on the positive cable, and poof!...no more problem.

Again, true4.2, thank you for your help...and, I appreciate your time.
Dale.
