Question loud sharp rattle..

91 f150 302 5sp stock exhaust....been getting this loud sharp rattleing noise either when softly bumping the engine on idle or accelerating from stop..goes away after 2 or 3 sec. and is not heard..traced it so far to left ( faceing truck ) lower rear side of motor or in that area...sounds like a can of bb's or something solid rattleing...to loud and sharp to be coming from inside the motor i think...(motor runs fine)...clutch is ok and exhaust is tight..been useing a small pipe as a stethoscope trying to find it..am starting to think it may be the ceramic gasket between the exhaust manifold and pipe had chiped or cracked and is doing it but find no looseness at the connection...if anyone has any ideas please let me know

Does this rattle vibrate your whole truck and do it when you give it gas? Just wondering because I am having a big problem with that and was wondering if it could be my cat...

Sounds like the heat shield on the converter could be loose, a very common problem.
