Hi all, have read a few threads on the subject, but have not found the info I'm looking for.
short explanation of my situation, when I bought my truck (1964 f250) I had no rear lights at all, that was due to the PO's use of house 110v wiring to replace harness (not recommended) I bought a new body harness and taillight harness through National Parts Depot (great service btw) then I had everything except brake lights. So I replaced the MC brake switch, and it got me one brake light. I figured just a bulb so I swapped bulbs from left to right to double check, and still only passenger side brake light.
My question is, if park lights (running lights) and signals work what am I missing for that driver side brake light?
I have basically eliminated body and tail light harness. Is there any wires I should be checking under the dash?
Any schematics for this circuit would be helpful as well. Thanks!
Had the same problem. Turns out to be the turn signal switch, which was new. To test this pull the wheel and push down on outer contacts and check the lights. If this is your problem this is what I did to fix it. Unlike the originals these have a press on retainer that holds it together. So I cut the retainer off and drilled and taped for a #4 screw with a washer. Problem solved.
My experience has been electrical gremlins can usually be traced to faulty ground. Suggest use a continuity/volt meter and test the faulty taillight. On my 65 found the tail lamp was faulty and grounding at the socket. Also appeared prior owner used incorrect bulb??

Thanks for the advice will definitely look into that this week. I believe mine to be original as the turn signal arm is quite sloppy, Maybe I will replace the switch all together. Cheers!
