Radio/cd problem question

1996 F250 7.3 powerstroke

Recently replaced my radio with one made for my truck. It is am/fm cd player single din.

My problem is once installed it I get static when I use my wipers, put on my brakes or use my AC. Didn't they make a filter to get rid of this stuff, or is there a fix, anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated.

Bad grounding somewhere and the antenna is picking up voltage from a short.

2 motor grounds IIRC. plus more.

Diesel doesn't suffer the same problems as gassers do with the radio whine and the coil packs and such. So if you do get a whine, its usually something like a bad battery or a shorted wire picking up flea power.

I experienced that with a cheapass radio in the Scout II once.

If you are looking for the exact location of the radio ground, let me know. I will thumb through the schematics.

Looks like two...G200 and G201.

201 - 'behind bottom of LH cowl panel'
200 - 'behind bottom of RH cowl panel'

Hope it helps.

Does anyone have a diagram for the location. I've looked online and can't find one.

PM me if you can accept pic messages on the phone, sorry no tit pics. Or email. I can take pics of where those points are at on the truck in the book.

The grounds are behind the kick panels driver and passenger front.

OK guys took off both kick panels and removed the ground wires on each side. I sanded and cleaned them all up and reinstalled. I also removed the antenna wire from it and looked it over. once everything was put back together the radio worked like it should. I thank all that replied you folks really helped me out. Thanks again
