This may come off as a dumb question but I have circled 2 parts I would like to know what they are and what are their purpose. One of the exhaust manifolds had a tube that came off and inserted into the air snorkel. Now if I was to buy a new type of filter type other than an oil bath filter would I have to buy a new manifold for that side? And the other circled peice is part of tubing that connects from the oil fill hole to the top of the air filter. What is the purpose of that and what would I do if I got a different style air cleaner.
Tube up from manifold is to pre heat engine intake air for quicker warm up and lower emissions. Small hose from oil cap to air cleaner is the crankcase vent. Air goes through air cleaner first then through the hose and cap. Pulled through engine by pcv in rear of passenger side cover. Back in the day everyone was ripping all this equipment off saying it was emission crap which in part it was but actually extended engine life by shorter warm ups and cleaner crankcase ventilation. Oil bath air cleaners are messy but do a good job.
