So, I'm pretty sure I found the truck that has my interest.
That white gold is pretty nice and different.
It does not have the tail gate step assist.
Being a short guy this tall bed will be a challenge at times. guess I will learn to carry a small step ladder; or that portable step that hangs over the rear wheel.
I drove to the dealership after hours to inspect truck.
Here it is on Auto Trader: 2018 XLT
So the dealer is asking 49k and the window MSRP was 51k and change. (yeah did not take photo to help me remember sigh)

Now the VIN Decoder shows a MSRP of 44k.

So my question is about the vin decoder.
Is the msrp/invoice price of any value for purchase/negotiations?
or of what value is it to me as a buyer if any. I'm on a learning curve here.
My Tundra was to be my last vehicle. Never saw the land purchase coming. Whooooops!
Now this one has to be my last one and will need to haul tractor, farm implements and Lord willing no more huge lifetime surprises.

Just ran my VIN....it came up as long bed Lariat... I am short bed XLT.... I had to go pick it on a drop down then the MSRP and invoice changed....but not to what window sticker says... It is a good tool, but not dead on accurate give general specs...color codes weights .Etc.

 

So looks like at least it gets us within the ball park and we get to see how well the dealer is up front.
Just found a 1k promo from Texas Farm Bureau so got that printed out and validated.
Some due diligence with credit union and maybe in a couple of weeks I'll be out of the Tundra.
woo-hoo...well sad to leave the Tundra, great truck but towing at 90%or so of max rating (10.4klbs) is not good for any piece of equipment.
The 250 rating of 12.5k is well over the 9300 lbs I tow so it should be just fine.....

I'm 5'11", with bad knees and a bad back... a ladder is my friend LOL.

Bought a but have yet to use it as my balance isn't great.
This 4' ladder is my go to. You'll need it as much as I do to get in the engine bay or bed.

Really like the StepDaddy Ladder the best of all the tailgate ladders but have yet to pull the trigger.

These links are awesome.These SD trucks seem to have been taking some 87 octane w/ steroids.
Don't seem to remember my trusty ol 2003 SD (7.3l) being that tall even though it was a 2wd.
Appreciate the help, guess being short, bad hips, knees etc brought out solutions for many!.

I put an AMP Research step on my truck. Glad to have it. I had a factory step on a 2010 F150 FX4. Hated that stupid handle/railing type thing. It looked ridiculous.
A step ladder is one more item to lug around or leave in back to be stolen. Not an option.
Also note the clevis in this pic. These trucks are notorious for having a poorly designed slot for safety chain attachment.

 

 

Just took a drive with my CFO to look at it.
Dealer left doors unlocked, whoops! So she crawled up there and told me the seat was very comfortable for her. Which is good for weekend trips yeah.
She fell in love with it!
I was shocked. So Monday morning I'll be at the credit union doing some due diligence.
First mod will be camo seat covers or the one where I can store the M4 behind the driver's seat.
*BTW folks does detailing the truck or leaving it as is make any difference when the appraisal guy strolls out there?*
Reason I ask is because I have about 4 months of vegetation, chain saw chaps and tools etc.
To spend a whole day detailing puts my behind on my clean up schedule of fence lines.
But will sacrifice if that's what needs to be done.
But appreciate the feedback and recommendations.

last one.. my taurus SHO...spotless except I smoke.. I was buying used truck...he said lower value based on smoke smell removal... I pointed out the small scratches on the truck and asked for lower price... Since they wanted to give me lower price on trade for something wrong.... Worked like a charm... A little different if u are on a New truck... Expect perfection for your dollar...but bring ur trade with ur best foot forward... Used car manager has to climb in folks dirty smelly cars all day... Make it the nice one he gets to check out........ I always find buy on last day of month and be able to walk out...( Or make it look like it)... They always bump trade to make deal... I know, I used to do it for a living.

 

My VIN shows up as a 2017 F450 XL "work truck". I had to fax the actual window sticker to my bank for refinancing because they said my brand new truck was worth $52,000.

NADA, KBB and Black Book show truck to be valued about 28 to 30k as trade in value.
Buying same vehicle used is around 32 to 34.
So I'll be sitting with credit union loan officer to see her take on valuation.
Hope dealer doesn't try to low ball my trade in.
I'd rather pay my tractor dealer to come pick it up before I get low balled on this trade and she's paid for as well.

If this works out, pictures will be forth coming!
