Hello, i have a F3 1951 with V8 Flathead and manual 3 speed transmission and i would like to know if this possible to insert a synchronizer in a gearbox without synchronizer. Thanks for your time. Maxime

Welcome to the forum!
Your truck should already have synchronized 2nd and 3rd gears. If it feels like they aren't working, perhaps the brass blocking rings in the synchros are worn out, or maybe your clutch isn't adjusted correctly and is dragging. But you can't add synchromesh to gears that don't already have them. Have you also checked the oil level in the trans?

Show us what you've got and explain what you are trying to do. I understand there may be a language problem to work around. Is your truck one made for the French military? The best source for transmission parts for our trucks is Van Pelt Sales, VANPELT SALES LLC - your ford flathead source since 2006.
US trucks did not have a 3-sp without synchronizers, only a 4-sp, and they were very common in F-3's.

The person who had made him imported told me that it was necessary to use the technique of the double clutch to cross speeds. Thus I thought that there was no synchronizer otherwise speeds would pass as on my recent car. But i have F3 stock with V8 Flathead. Sorry i m novice.

I think you have the non-synchro 4-speed. 1st gear is so low that it is not used except when starting with a heavy load. Check your shift pattern! Is there a metal serial number plate on the inside of the glovebox? Take a picture of that and post it here (take a pic of the truck, too!).

Either you have a transmission different than those offered in the rest of the world, or you have a 4-speed that is just not willing to go into 3rd. It should be like this:

Bienvenue Smax. Show us some pictures of your truck when you get a chance.
It would be nice to see what a French version of our trucks looks like..

Hello Ben,

Very nice looking truck! Amazing condition.

Can you take a picture of the transmission, particularly on the passenger side? If there is a plate on the side of the trans, held on by 4 or 6 bolts, that will confirm the 4-sp.

sorry I'm not going to my truck for a while but my father is going to look at the transmission to find out what's written. otherwise I would look for the passenger side. thank you yes I am lucky he is in great condition. just a few things but nothing serious.

By the way, your serial number indicates your truck is indeed a 1951 F-3 made in the Kansas City plant.
