Has any one ever tryed Mallory's unilite breakerless ignition conversion kit to replace the points in these old trucks? If so how well did it work for you? And to my suprise they make a Y block distributor using the same system.

I have not done the Mallory, but I did do the pertronix conversion. It worked very well for my 1960. I would not hesitate to do it again.

I have only done a Pertronix, which to my mind is easy, cheap and works. I would think that a Mallory would be just as good.
A nice thing about a Pertronix is you can pick up a complete points, condenser and plate from Napa, toss it in the glove box and if the Pertronix ever died, it would take about 15 minutes to swap back to points which would get you home.
