Question Leaf Spring Bushings

I recently bought a 1974 f-250. I am doing a frame up restoration and have read and used this forum extensively but I am unable to find much information on this problem.

My project is a 1974 f-250 4X4, 4 speed, 360. I will be swapping the straight body off of my 1971 f-100. I have sandblasted and repainted the frame and replace all seals brakes and bearings in the front and rear end.

Now, I am ready to install new leaf spring bushings. I have ordered some from JC whitney but i am unclear as to if they are going to work or not. They only list replacements for the front and they want to know if the spring eye is 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inches.

My front leafs have a smaller front eye and a larger rear eye and wondered if the kit would be the same. The bushings in the frame and front eye are 1 1/4 and the rear eye is 1 1/2 inches. I ordered the 1 1/4 prothane bushings because there are more of them than the 1 1/2. My rear leafs are the same width (2 1/4) and eye diameter as my 1971 f-100 so I ordered a set for it in hopes they will work.

Any help would be appreciated if someone has been down the same road as me.

Thank you in advance Craig

Leaf Spring Bushings

Get poly bushings from some of the companies listed in the back of the 4-wheel magazines.

Leaf Spring Bushings

Craig,
I am going thru this same problem as we speak, Here is some of the problems I have run into so far with my 75 F250 4x4 390ci stock.
1. Order Prothane bushings #6-1003-BL for $60.00 from Suspension Restoration Co.Waited 2 wks package arrives, take rear springs off and press out old stock bushing, grab new bushings, eyeball them and they don't look big enough in dia. to fit the springs or shackles. I measure the ID of the springs eye at 1.350" and the shackles measure ID 1.390".
Measure the OD of the new bushings at 1.280" spring and 1.620" for the shackles.
Call Co back and explain that these bushing will not fit, spend better part of an hour trying to find the correct bushings, NO Luck.
Call Prothane and explain the problem, same info NO luck.
Call Engery Suspension, explain everything, Bought part#4-2107 for $40.00 spring bushings only,No shackle bushing available, waiting for parts.
2. Have spent the last four weeks looking for the correct bushings No luck so far for my 73 & 75 250 4x4. Have questions out on several sites and info is not available I quess.
If I find out any more I'll let you know,
I have my fingers crossed that the last ones ordered will fit correctly.
Thanks,Don.
