I have the most recent tsb's applied to my truck in terms of programming and I have to say that the trans has been smooth as silk and the popping noise is not nearly as noticeable as it was. It's still there from time to time but not enough to notice.

 

Just found this thread and your issue sounds very similar to mine. did you ever find a solution? I have been back and forth with dealers, as well as ford but no answers yet. they have continued to try and find the sound, but have not been successful. just thought id see if you found anything?

I had/have the popping sound, took it to the dealer and they said everything was fine. Perfectly normal. Of course. I don't care anymore, if it blows up then they'll have an issue but for now I'm just dealing with it. Maybe I should press it but I'm so friggin busy with work (7 days a week lately) I don't have time to jerk around again with a dealer.

 

Mine still pops. It’s less noticeable then before though. I am not worried about that at all. Normal characteristic of the engine/trans. My rough shifting has gone away as well with the latest update to the pcm.

 

I had both of these issues, rough shifting transmission and load popping noise when I got on the gas. Took to Ford dealer multiple times, uploaded the latest TSB for transmission shift and nada. Acknowledged the issue but they were never able to fix it.

 

I have a 2018 F150 5.0 L with 33,000 miles on it and it just started doing this exact same pop. Usually when I tap the gas quick or let off under acceleration fast. Has anybody found a solution or is this just the characteristics of my truck now?

I just had it in the dealership yesterday and the trans guy there said it was called stack up from the transmission having play in it. He said my transmission and PCM are up to date and that the noise is normal. Don’t ever remember the truck doing it this bad
