My 1991 Bronco makes a buzzing sound from the Transmission when the key is off and out of the ignition. Sounds like a solenoid is stuck or something. It will buzz over night and it kills the battery after a day or two. Anyone ever heard of such a thing????
I still have the test leds wired into my son's 91 bronco, and with the keyONengineOFF, the ECM is sending the square-wave to the EPC solenoid in the tranny.
However, it is now 34-degrees here, and I do not hear any movement of the solenoid. Perhaps I would if the oil were hot...
Sounds to me as if your ignition key ckt may be faulty, or the ECM does not shut down completely.
What ELSE can you find that fails to shut down...??? Maybe do your guages still read after you turn the key off? Turn signals still work with key off? Backup lamps in reverse with key off?
Any other clues to help diagnose?
Hummm...
Wonder if your ECM Power relay has welded closed, keeping the ECM live all the time...
Might try pulling the relay out of its socket and see if the buzz stops.
I will try that...as soon as I fix other problems that happened today.
It was running fine and then just died. The fuel pump doesn't come on, so I replaced the fuel pump relay, but still doesn't work. I think I have to replace the fuel pump. UGGG! Inside the tank! Any chance these electrical problems are related?????
Well BINGO. The fuel relay is turned on by the ECM relay , which is turned on by the ignition switch...
SO, move the new fuel relay (I think they are the same) into the socket for the ECM relay, and I bet you fix BOTH problems...
