I got a 90 F-250 and my wife went out side to move my truck and back it in to my little girls truck. I went out side to see what the **** was going on and she said the brakes were not working. So I took the truck for a drive when to stop and rolled thought a stop sign the padle is hard as a rock. It takes all my wieght to stop it and then when it stops the padle slowly goes to the floor. now i have to down sift then go to N to stop and if im on a hill i got to use the E brake to hold it there when it works or Park. what happen it was fine the day before now I cant stop it. Can so one Help please.
Check to make sure you still have a belt on your vacuum pump.
Is it in good shape, and tensioned right?
If you still have the belt, and it's in good shape and well tensioned, use a vacuum tester to find out if its drawing enough HG's. You should see 25 to 26 HG's at sea level T-ed to the inlet port of your vacuum pump. I'm not sure how much the HG's will decrease per 1,000 feet of elevation. Don't know where you live. Someone else might be able to clue us. Write back if the vacuum stuff is okay and we'll start on the hydraulics. R.A.
