Here is the one I'm looking at, in the highlighted area. Now that I'm at work, I'll see if I can get the part number, I didn't have this file at home!

I think this is the part #. Not sure about the primary and secondary part, though.

So found two of them at NOS parts. I'm going to order a couple, and hopefully these are the right ones!

I don't think they are, Pat. Primary to the front, secondary to the rear. Illustration shows 2 - 2035 springs

Bill, I have a CD from hipo just can't find it......have a bunch of microfiche cards too.....just have to do some moving stuff to get to the reader.

Pat, can you assemble, sort of the shoes and get a rough idea of the length of the spring needed, or measure the one you have.

I noticed this, but 11" x 2 1/4" brakes were not available until 1968.

ALL 1953/67 F100's have 11" x 1 3/4" rear brakes.

Now, that 2 1/4 is the drum thickness, correct?

But, the primary is a 2035 number, the secondary is a 2036. the parts listing for the rear is 2035

No.
This is the size of the brake shoes.

Pics in parts catalogs are for parts guys, so they can find the basic part numbers, but pics are usually generic (typical) as they apply to more than just one series..

For example this pic (see below) shows in addition to the F100 springs, the long F250 spring that F100's didn't have. Pic also applies to Econolines & P series Parcel Delivery.

Now a parts guy would know that 1964/72 E100/200 actually applies to 1964/67 E100 & 1969/72 E100 & E200, simply because E200's weren't available until 1969.

Back then parts guys had to know what the hell they were doing, having a good memory was a real plus.

Today, there are very few real parts guys remaining, because all they have to do to get part numbers, is to type the VIN into the computer.

JEFFFAFA is one of the few, began in 1977 and is still "at it."

Oh, okay, I was wondering about that number. But, will the shoe width affect that spring length, as long as its for the 11" drums?

Hi Guys!
The brake assist return springs for the trucks are mostly still made but are separate from the kits. On most of the cars, they are discontinued 30+ years ago ...thanks in part to the "disc brake conversion experts" who decided with the aftermarket engineers that these springs were no longer needed.....kinda, funny because there has never been a Ford engineer who has ever agreed with them.....and most of the brake retraction issues can be led directly to these as well.....
Here is what I did.....20+ years ago I started making my own springs but simply cutting down the longer ones, putting the curves in them using a oxy/acet torch...… but.....last year when I had a spring break...… I fabbed up a solution that I really like...………...much better...… using the same brake assist springs springs from a larger vehicle, I fabbed up a center piece out of flat bar steel....1/2" wide,,, with a couple of vertical tabs for hooks for the springs to attach to...………….. then I just took the new springs, cut off and using the ends....yes, you need to use a torch to heat the end of the spring to create a hook to attach to the center piece....I made the overall length about 3/8" shorter than the overall length......it works great IMHO! Very simple to install as well.....should have a life of 10-20 years

After using all my meager resources...I don't think that long spring was ever used on your truck.
So, you are probably going to be ok with out it. I checked some rear backing plates with shoes on them, I have from a 67 2 WD 1 3/4" wide shoes. no long spring.

Well, we'll see what these springs are from NOS parts. If they're not the right ones, I'll see about assembling it without those springs.

Sorry late to this party Pat. Brakes back then took EITHER the primary and secondary 2035/2036 OR the long 2035. Not both. The long 2035 was for brakes that were not self adjusting. Self adjusting type took the separate 2035/2036. Which is why your kit didn't come with it. The pics you and Bill posted just show both possibilities.
