Alright, who all has a Joying head unit and what is the secret to making this thing not such a turd? I read threads raving about them and mine sucks. I got the 4GB $399 model. I am jerking it out and replacing it with a Name brand if I can’t get it to operate seamlessly soon.
There is certianly a learning curve. At $399 hopefully you got all the Extras with it. Its a decent unit but you have to purchase a few apps to make it really shine. I use rocketplayer, igo nav app, and aglauncher as the frontend. With those, its pretty good.
I can’t set the time, it’s only automatic update based on location and the time moves faster than the actual time. I’ve never seen that before.
Google Maps won’t work.
I bought it mainly to use TorquePro for my gauges and that won’t work.
I got it to play music via bluetooth from my phone but it cuts out even with the phone a few inches away.
I got screen mirroring to work but it goes into sleep mode if I don’t touch the screen now and then.
There’s some music player that is permanent on the top right of the home screen that doesn’t even function.
I have to download apps to get it to work but I can’t get any browser to pull up.
I haven’t run my backup camera wire because someone said I have to use their backup camera if I do an update because they want you to be forced to buy theirs.
Settings are very limited.

These Android radio's are nothing more than glorified Android tablets. They have some restrictions, kinda like a branded phone so they will have some limitations. I do not have the unit you purchased so I can not say exactly what yours is or is not doing is correct for that unit.
You need a good bluetooth OBDII adapter for your Torque Pro. My 1st purchase was cheap and it did not work. using Amazon I returned it and got a better one. Sometimes my HU will have its Bluetooth off, so I had to install an app that toggles the BT on/off for it to read the OBDII data.
I was not able to get screen mirroring working either so I just turning on my phone's hotspot and connected my HU to that. That fixed a lot of issues when I was not able to connect the HU WiFi.
I do not stream to my HU, but install a USB drive full of MP3's, listen to the built in FM radio, or my XM Radio that I plugged into the audio port of my backup camera. Once the XM is playing, I can switch to Torque, Waze or any other app that does not want to use the audio channel. Apps like Waze share the audio channel.
Interesting issue with your clock. Have you been in the settings and set your time zone?
You should be able to use any analog backup camera. 4 wires. Pos, Neg, Video and Neg/shield. Neg and Neg/shield can sometimes be tied together to make it only 3 wires.
If you purchased from eBay seller wanaco100, contact him. He does not make the units, just re-sells them, but has been very responsive in the past.
After the 3rd one failed, Amazon helped me get a full refund from Joying and I moved on to a Pioneer Android Auto unit and could not be more pleased.
These Joying android units are not built to handle real world use in a truck environment. Just move on if you have the chance.
This is what I am going to do. $399 and can’t use half the features due to compatibility issues is BS. I shouldn’t have to download other apps and nonsense to find loopholes to use this thing. Thanks for the advice!
