You are going to have to put a scan tool on it to determine what the malfunction is.
When the ABS light is on the system has shut itself off, the good news is the normal power assisted braking system is unaffected.

i had the same problem with my truck. i checked the abs sensors; two in the front and one on the rear axle for continunity, with an ohm meter. i found the rear sensor to have no continuity, bought a new sensor at dealer for $18 installed it and light stayed out.
