Hey guys, installing a wieand 8012 on my 460 I am dropping in this weekend. My old intake was stock with EGR plate not used. My question is can I mount carburetor directly to intake or do I need to use a spacer? My carb. Is edlebrock 4 barrel

If you're mounting directly onto the intake, buy a heat shield for the carb. The top of the intake gets very hot and usually ends up boiling the fuel bowls on the carb.
So in a sense, yes, you can mount direct, but you'll boil your fuel without some heat shielding. If that's not an option, go route B) and get a carb spacer. 1" phelonic/ plastic will do just fine.
I like using the space just for heat reduction between the intake and the carb. It kinda dissipates the heat and will lessen the risk of the heat boiling the fuel out of the bowls.
That intake doesn't have the heat crossover under it, so heat shouldn't be a real issue. At least not in my experience. The volume on those intakes is huge, unless it's a high rpm deal I would stay away from a spacer if you can.

i have a Holley on a wieand and my carb linkage would not clear the carb base on the intake. So I could either dremel the intake or use a spacer. I use a 1 inch plastic spacer.
Ditto. Yes you can mount directly to that manifold, but a good 1" phenolic 4 hole spacer would help prevent fuel boil. Aluminum spacer won't help much, if any, with heat. Open spacer vs 4 hole spacer? I've tried both. 4 hole maintained good throttle response. Open spacer is more for high RPM operation. And an open spacer will probably cause a very lean condition that you'll have to tune for.
I haven't seen a down side to using a spacer. It gives clearance for throttle linkage. Gives a little more plenum volume which is like lengthening the intake runners, which gives better torque and throttle response. And again, it helps with heat.
