'93 Explorer Question

I originally posted this message in the electrical forum but got no responses, so I'll try here.

I bought a '93 Explorer about 2 months ago that needed a new transmission, long story short, I rebuilt it myself and now I am driving it regularly (for that matter, at all) for the first time.

Everything seems to work fine...............except.

The cruise control has never worked. I hit the "ON" button but nothing happens, I hit all the other buttons and nothing happens. A quick check of the fuses yielded no clues. Any tips on how to run down the problem?

The gas gauge worked fine for about a week, then, literally overnight, it quit working. Another quick check of the fuses yielded no clues. Any tips on how to run down the problem?

Could the two problems be related?

Do these devices shut down to notify me that there is another problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

'93 Explorer Question

hey, on my 92 explorer i had a similar problem with the speedometer. one day it worked the next it didnt. I had to replace it. i would say check out all of the fuses. this probably isnt the problem but my backwindshield defogger didnt work and it was messing with the interior lighting and some other stuff. about the cruise, im not sure. stupid question but are you holding the on button and press the cruise control right? or visa versa?
