Cam
I am new to this page however I am in search of any recommendations on a cam shaft.
I have recently got my hands on a 1971 429 stock Thunder Jet motor with 30,000 original miles on it, I plan to put it in my 1973 F 100. I love the sound a cam makes i am not really looking on gaining any HP just want the sound of the cam.if I could possibly get any feedback on How to accomplish this idea it would be greatly appreciated!!!
. Thanks in advance
There is no way to replicate this without using a big cam. And big cams require other things to run properly. And they don't run very well in a street driven vehicle.
The reason is because they are made with high-rpm power as their main purpose. The loping at idle is because the engine will barely run at idle speed.
Not to mention the fact that a big cam won't produce enough vacuum to operate any accessories like the brake booster....
Now, this isn't to say you can't run a moderate "RV" style cam, with a good dual exhaust system. That would give it plenty of good sound.
