I have asked this before, and was told that 87 ford pickups have 31 spline axles. Yesterday though I got a later model 8.8 out of a pick up, and it had 28, and I have a limited slip of a 83 tbird(i think) and it is 28. Can anyone confirm that 87 f150 has a 31 spline. I would really not like to tear into it just to find out.
The 2.73 live axle just doesnt give me enough excitement. heh.
Thank you

Sorry, I don't know, If you find out, let me know. I have an 87 that's not quite as hot as yours according to your data there. You don't have to tear into it just to find out. You can use that as an excuse to adjust your brakes and repack your wheel bearings.
Most good auto stores can reference your axle code and tell you what you have. Also try four wheel drive shops and magazines they seem to have all that info thats usualy where I look for axle/transmission gear ratios and other info such as that.
