1981 Bronco Engine Upgrade : 96 5.0 V8 GT40 heads
My 18 year old son has an 1981 Bronco that he bought from the original owner back in October 2017. We put a new brake system all the way around and new tires.
The 351M and C6 is giving us fits and is iffy some days.
Couple of guys that I work with gave us a 1996 Explorer 5.0 with the GT40 heads and a 1985 AOD with transfer case from a Bronco
I also got the wiring harness and computer from the explorer.
What do we need to do ahead of time to get everything ready to do the engine and trans swap.
This is also a daily drive for my son, to school, football, and home.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated and we have a very very small budget to get a few parts.

you might find that explorer efi system difficult to get wired up and running correctly. With that said you will have a real screamer. What i might recommend is holding onto the efi components and slap a carb on there. the key will be getting the necessary TV cable throttle cable bracket so the transmission is setup correctly otherwise it will burn up. Hopefully the AOD has the 302 flexplate already on it as this is necessary and trans specific. you can not use a C6 Flexplate for example.
if i was going to do efi on that old of a rig i would look into a mustang efi Mass Air harness and computer. much simpler, less sensor dependant than that explorer efi.
