Power-Deployable Running Boards

Anybody installed the Factory Power Running Boards after purchase? Or had the dealer install them? When searching the Ford website parts section, I don't see them as an available "aftermarket" option, just the standard fixed boards...
And yes, I did a search in the Forum for "power-deployable running boards", but I didn't see an answer...

Thanks in Advance.

Some guy on here did it. It’s a lot of work but possible. It’s cheaper to use amp steps.

Also interested. On my frame rails there are wiring harnesses that dead end. For those with OEM, do they attach here? Any chance my truck is pre wired?

I believe this plug has power when the doors are open so people use it for courtesy lights. Some trucks have them and some don't. The thread I read couldn't determine how they decide who gets them. There should be a matching one on the other side.

That's the LED circuit for running board lights. It fades on and off with the doors. I tapped into it and wired into my own leds

Thank you everyone. So it is not a simple plug and play. I believe I will just go AMP Running Boards. Will be quicker and easier for about the same price.

I had them included with my build, however your conclusion is what I've read here on the forums. The benefit of the AMP boards, I believe, is that they come with lights included. My OEM boards are dark. I may look to tap into that connector.

The 502A Lariat that I wanted did not have them. I figured it probably had the harness since it was a very well optioned 502A and could be easily added by the dealer. When I asked, he said the service department suggested I go with the AMP aftermarket because it would be too expensive to add factory ones. He also said sometimes the wiring harness is not always on the truck.....I figured if they didn't want to do it, it must be a real PITA.

I went AMP and I am very happy. They seem much quicker to deploy and retract than my BIL's King Ranch factory boards. The motors seem very strong.

That's good to hear. Thanks for the input. That was another concern, wasn't sure how quick either of them were. A Co-worker has a new 18 Expedition with the factory power running boards, her mother frequently gets hit in the shin with them because she get's in and out quicker than they deploy...
One of the reasons I was considering them was because they supposedly hang a little lower than the fixed boards, which would help my vertically challenged wife, lol.

And for a cleaner look down the side of the truck...

I had AMP installed after purchase. Local shop beat ford by several hundred on price then installed them for free. About a 500 dollar savings over ford.

Definitely recommend shopping around rather than going thru ford.

Also the AMP steps don’t have chrome on them.

Side note, I have a brand new set of chrome lariat running boards that have never been used for sale if anyone needs them.

They have an option for the chrome strip if you want one, I personally didn't want it.
