Lift Kits
I have a 90' F-150 XLT EXT. Cab, has anyone ever done a lift them selves i know the Body lifts are cheap but for the 4x4 store to do it, it was $600 in labor and they said a sus*****on lift would be even more. Could someone tell me how to do a body lift or a suspension lift myself or where i could go to get get it cheaper?? thanks

thats way to much for body lift, whoever they are, are getting you for your money, you could do the body lift yourself, i think the hardest part is gettting the old body off bolts off.

Body lifts are definitely the cheaper easier way to go. The kit usually costs about 100 bucks. Suspension lift kits can cost several hundred bucks. This is without labor. In my opinion you get what you pay for. Personally I would never do a body lift. You have to relocate your bumpers or they hang down too low. Also you can see the frame and in the rear you can see between the frame and the bed. I would go with a suspension lift. I helped my friend put a 4 inch lift on his 95 4x4. This took about a weekend. I put a 2 inch lift on my 95 2wd, which took an afternoon. Both suspension lifts. If your not one who likes to work on cars and trucks though, I would defintely consider having someone else do it.
