Okay, this is the wifes truck and its starting to annoy me, but she loves her "baby" so ditching it is out of the question.
Heres the prob..had the tranny rebuilt about 14 months ago. She ran fine, then about 3 weeks ago, she started to leak like before, replaced the front seal, all is good in the world again. Today, my wife informs me that its not working right. It will back up fine, then when you put in to drive, it would bang into gear, like what happens when the idle is to high. Now, it won't even do that. She puts it into drive and sits for about 10 to 20 second and then the truck "slowly" will pull away. Once moving all is fine, till she stops and shuts of the truck for more than 20 minutes.
The fluid is red and clear, with no smell of burning, and no leaks.
Anybody know what I should look for??
Any help would be greatly appreciatted!!

Did not think of plugged lines! Will have to put in on the list when she gets back with the truck. "it still runs so i am going to run some errands", bad resoning..waiting for the call that sends me out to rescue her, cause the truck died.

Had the same problem with mine after a rebuild....turns out the shop did not get the pump aligned correctly and it ate up everything inside the case again...fortunately it was still under warranty from the shop and they fixed no questions asked.
okay..pulled everything..fluid is red with a slight burnt smell. There are no chunks in the pan, just fine silver type "filings". It was brought to my attention it could be the "forward clutch." Is this a driveway rebuildable part or am i better off sending her out to the pros?
Thanks for all your help

yeah. i definately feel your pain. i just had a transmission rebuilt in my 92 explorer...the mechanic showed me the inside of the case and there were metal shavings all inside it. he said it just wore out and that something in there just shattered. but i had the same problem you had. (in overdrive)i would go to start off, and the truck wouldn't do a thing, then after about 10 sec. it would shift into gear. so, i tried it in regular drive, and it worked better. i live at clemson, so that weekend i drove it home and by the time i got it to the mechanics place, it wouldn't move any more. but it is fixed now....im haveing a little trouble with the governer on mine now (but the guy told me it was an easy fix). good luck.
