In my legal class in high school, I learned that regardless of when you place a claim, once the warranty period ends the warranty is over.
Even if the truck is up on the rack at the time and they dragged their feet, legally it doesn't matter. In that particular case you would hope they would finish the job, but they are not legally obligated to do so.
