I don't know about ugly, I just want to know about these good American trucks that dassmoof mentioned. I was told that my truck was "built" in Kentucky, but I think they ment "assembled". I think that all truck parts are made by a multinational company and they just ship the parts to Ford, Dodge, and Chevy. Ford probably just got a shipment ment for Chevy and had to make due.

I think it looks great.
As far as big, flat and bland- I think it's miles ahead of the 97-2003 look. The last model wasn't bad, but it broke away from the tradiational Ford-truck look. I thought it looked too much like a jelly bean.
The new 04 has gone back to a more boxy, squared up look- similar to the SuperDuty and the previous 150's. I think the design was a good choice.

Thumbs down UGGGGGGGGGGLY

Just got my first close look at an '04 F150 yesterday at the dealer... ('03 250SD was in for a minor warranty issue);

Sorry, but I gotta side with the "it's butt-ugly" croud.

THAT'S NOT TO SAY IT'S A BAD TRUCK....just that I (ME) thinks it's kinda, well.......ugly.

I liked some of the new features: (gas-shock tail gate---CLEARLY a female magnet)---upgraded 5.4 (3-valve) powerplant, that's good. This EC model had power windows and power split window...OK....good, but that seems like OVERKILL. I liked the fact that Ford went with the 250SD side window concept allowing for better visibility.

I had a '02 F150 4x4 that I had a grand total of 4 months before it got on my nerves so much that I traded it on an ordered F250SD. I was tired of the micro interior and the fact that it was a rolling blind spot. As far as I'm concerned, ANYTHING is an improvement over the pre '04 150s in terms of comfort, ergonomics and interior room for such an externally large vehicle.

As this was a Lariat, it had the "I wish I was a Lincoln" dash board, with the full center console with the "emergency brake" auto trannie selector. The interior just left me cold. If I want a pluch navigator or aviator, I'll buy one. If I buy a truck, I like some nice features, but I still want to feel that I bought a TRUCK---not a lincoln with a bed......NOW THAT'S JUST ME!

I sat in it, played with the toys, pushed buttons, etc. Just then the guy walked up and said mine was ready to go. It was almost a relief to get in my F250SD again.

It just seems to me that Ford decided that they wanted to have the truck look like a "girly man". It's no secret that industry statistics indicate that the WIFE/SIGNIFICANT OTHER plays a HUGE role in family vehicle selection, often with the last word...which we KNOW isn't true, right guys? .

AGAIN, THAT'S NOT TO SAY THAT IT ISN'T A BRAWNY VEHICLE WITH TREMENDOUS CAPABILITY OVER ITS PREDECESSOR---IT PROBABLY IS. I just think it's Arnold in Brittney clothing.

I dunno, maybe it'll grow on me, BUT I HOPE THEY DON'T MURDER THE 250SD WITH THE SAME APPEARANCE CONCEPTS.

Just my nickle's worth of opinion.

I liked it when I saw the lightning concept photos.

I liked it when I saw the early photos of the production F150's

I liked them when they first made it to the showrooms.

I love it now that it's in our driveway.

But that's just me.

I own a 1995 f150. I think this bodystyle was the best looking one. The 97-03 looks to car like, the 04 brings back the truck look to the ford lineup.

I couldn't agree more with xraytommy.
As for the interior, they don't all have that "Lincoln" interior. If you want the more rugged, traditional Ford interior with the column shifter, it's available- and for less money.

Everyone keeps saying the wheels are too small on the '04 f150. Aren't they 17"? Sounds big. Is it just a visual perspective thing since the side of the truck is wider? Have to agree with those that say the 95-96 Ford was the best looking year.

You guys are all so confused ... Everyone knows that 79 was the best looking year (for a real truck anyway, the 50's F-1's were the best looking but just not for everyday use IMHO)

Thats pretty funny because I think the new 04's look girlie or soccer mom more than the 97-03. I'm glad I went with an 03 and if I need new the next will be a 250 unless they ugly them up too.

I'm glad you like your 03' but thats the only model my girlfriend likes...she thinks all the other years are too square??!? I think thats my least fav series (97-03) unless we are talking SD those are fine...but the 150's ewww. Just my opinion so the point is moot. Just curious how you think they are more "manly" then the 04? They have a super sloped front end...and are really bubbly. (remind me of sunfires and cavaliers heh)

No car, truck, van, boat, atv, ect... Has ever been as ugly as the new chev trucks. Not even close!!! To call the new F-150 ugly is a matter of opinion, but, to think it is even close to how ugly the new chevs are is plain wrong.

Kraut, i agree the superduty is a fine looking truck but it seems a little unfair to compare the SD to the 04 light duty. From my standpoint, the 04F150 is a Large step improvement in looks over the 03 F150 i.e. lets look at 04 F150 apples to 03 F150 apples. I thought the 02 chevy trucks were alright looking but the 04's have a "cat eye" look that i do not like. IMO, Dodges ought to go into Websters Dictionary as the definition of butt ugly.
