My truck has been handling a little odd the last few years. Fresh springs, sway bar bushings, good tires, Bilstein shocks, fresh ball joints, fresh tie rods, redhead steering gear, alignment tweak after alignment tweak. All that helped a lot, but it was still a bit unpredictable at times and it was driving me nuts. It was the body bushings! Replaced them today with poly, and it feels much more planted. The poly is definitely more harsh on bumps but I'll take the trade off. Anyway, just wanted to share in case it helps someone. I didn't realize body bushings could have such an effect on handling.
I did mine not long ago, and yeah the ride is a bit harsher with the poly bushings, but the factory rubber bushings are also way more expensive.
When I did mine I removed the front fuel tank, I didn't really see any other way, and I used a sawzall and an angle grinder to cut the old ones off. It went pretty fast but prepare for burnt rubber smell.
I removed the front fuel tank too. Change the fuel filter while you're there.
To separate the mounts, remove the bolts from inside the cab, then I used a piece of 3" tube, about 3" long, placed over the bottom nut from under the truck, with a big washer over the other end. Then thread mount bolt into the nut from below, going through the big washer and 3" tube. Crank it down until the mount splits. There's a good video on YouTube by another member on here: https://youtu.be/f8bbh8bwUhs
Another thing I thought of; Ford used red locktite on the body mount bolts, they felt like they were going to break off until I heated the nuts for ~3 minutes with mapp gas. With heat they spun right out.
