Informed the photographer of this for the background when the pics are taken of the"Firstride " for Vintage Truck magazine . He was excited as he has never taken pics of a vehicle in front of an old water tower (circa
1920 ) .What do you all think ? He suggested an old deserted dirt road ,however the truck ( owner ) is not down w/ that .Plenty of room on a flat area out front to turn the truck around .His time frame to take pics is 7-9 am .So will be something old in front of something older .Thanks , Denny
sweet site FR you're getting to be such a celebrity... are you coming up for the Grand Nationals in Pigeon Forge ??? Ask your personal assistant/scheduler if we can meet up... maybe get an autograph ????? Just kidding man... your truck at that site will make an awesome picture... cover worthy and I hope they do a nice detail article instead of just a fact box in the corner of the page.

No trip to PF this year . Attended the Nat's last Oct in PF . 408 trucks & the "Firstride " was best in class , top 10 of 408 & Truck of The Year '48-'52 . Then 2 days after arriving home received a call from Steve Moscowitz (Exec. dir. of the AACA in Hershey ) inviting us down to the Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance . an epic week . This mag . story will be right up there w/ getting the Best Truck Trophy handed to me by "Big Daddy " Don Garlits at his show in Ocala , Fla. We will be attending Truck Stock 2018 in Tn. to see the gang of truck nutz .
Denny, consider shooting at both locations if the photographer is willing. Then you can decide which looks best. For my nickle I'd go with an uncluttered background so nothing competes with or confuses the lines of your truck.
Fordf348, your truck looks great--an historic setting for an historic anniversary! So, we have at least two of our members whose trucks have graced the pages of vintage truck magazines. Congratulations to you both.

Jim , don't jump the gun . This has not happened yet . Hopefully pics on the 19th . Still have not heard back from the photographer on the site choice . How far away from Park Falls / Fifield , Wis. are you ? Will be in that area mid June .
Denny, we have confidence in you and your truck! I'm about 2 hours or so from Park Falls. I'm pretty far east and some south. Deerbrook is just off of Hwy 45 on the way to Eagle River. I might be interested in meeting up in June. Maybe we could do a heater exchange--My core for one of your nicely restored units. I have the real basic black cube type--No outside air and not much for controls. Shoot me a PM on what such an exchange might cost me.
Good luck with your photo shoot. I consider your truck to be the gold standard for what a completely original restoration is supposed to look like when just the right amounts of skill, patients, and $$ are brought to the table.
Contrast and lighting are your friends for the shoot, Denny. While the water tower is interesting, where the sun will be positioned during the timing of the session isn't known to me. There usually aren't too many long distance pics in a layout, so it'll be interesting to see how much of the tower gets into the money shots.
As long as I'm in full 'ar-teest' mode, the contrasts get lost in Ed's (fordf348) cover shot, unfortunately That same truck would look very different - in a good way - with dawn/dusk lighting. So, the skill of the photographer really matters in setting up the most flattering outcome. The pros can 'see' their desired outcome before taking the shot. Your truck, with the eye catching color scheme, should be a stunner.
