Greetings. I couldn't find too much about this with a search.
I have a 2017 F350 6.7 and I have noticed something I am not used to. When I have the key on, no start, the radio will stay on anywhere from 2 mins to 20 mins. It seems a bit random. If I get in my truck first thing in the morning and turn the key on, I get power to the radio for about 2 mins then it shuts off like I had opened the door. If I have been driving it all day then go to pick up the kids from school, I have radio power for quite a bit longer - like 20 mins.
I most of my previous Fords, It seems like accessory power would stay on as long as the key was on. Even my 2011 6.7.
I have found in my Ford's recently... I don't drive but 4 miles to work... It radio stay on gets shorter and shorter.... Charge battery and back up to like 15 min for a bit.... Then falls off to almost immediately... On a year old battery.... I am not driving long enough to charge battery... So set up trickle charger... Or possibly older/bad battery... Or u have a parasitic draw/ alt/ voltage regulator issue... Just my experience

Thanks for the info. I suspect the truck is monitoring voltage draw and is cutting off the accessory based on that.
There is a forscan setting which changes the accessory time, but I'm not sure it's going to help you here.
With two batteries in your truck and no large draw in current, you should last for hours, if not all day. I left my doors open and radio on one day while I was working and it lasted for an hour before turning off. I didn't start the truck, but I turned the key off then back on and it lasted for another hour.
I'm not sure exactly how the battery protection circuit in these trucks works. Hopefully someone can chime in, because it makes no sense to me. Two batteries in paralell should never drop voltage with what's in these trucks, unless you had the key all the way on.... I've had single battery vehicles with 100amps of stereo last for two hours easily.
