I used the GPS last night going to dinner. Used it on the way home and noticed it was kind of lagging with my position. I turned on to the road it told me to, but the icon on the screen kept going straight, and then it recalculated the route, then jumped to where I really was and recalculated again. Then I noticed on the lower left of the screen an icon that says “no gps” (actually it was “gps” with a red circle around it and line through it). It still gave me directions correctly and got me home, but it lagged the entire time. Thoughts?? Solar flares? Swamp gasses?

They came out with a universal fix for that for all OEM Nav systems. It's called Google maps on you cell phone. I've had Navi on every vehicle I've owned since they started showing up in cars. None work as good as Google maps. I sat with the EVP of mercedes benz for a meeting one time and he spent 15 minutes lamenting about how he was picked up at the airport in a nearly $200,000 MB product and the driver used his phone stuck to the inside of the windshield for navigation. Why do you think you can't get Nav as a stand alone option? Because no one would buy it. I wish they'd just make a good place to hold your phone so it wasn't bouncing all around. Let's see how the sync integration works.
Lol. Not gonna argue with you there! I almost always use google maps. But... my iPhone has recently developed a glitch that crashes the phone when using any GPS while driving. Haven’t gotten around to getting a new phone. Have had Apple for 8 years. Unsure if I want another. But that’s a different thread all together.
In the meantime I’d like to be able to use the factory nav! Compared the the gps in the wifeys Accord and my old Chevy, this is a decent attempt at factory nav.

The SYNC system might just need to be cleaned out.
Have you tried a Master Reset to see if that`ll clear up the problem you`re having?

how do I accomplish this??
found this on another Ford site:
SIMULTANEOUSLY (at the same exact time) press the Scan Forward button(>>) and the CENTER power button(audiosystempower) and HOLD them in for a little more than 10 seconds. The screen will go black. RELEASE the buttonsat the black screen. Systemwill then reboot.
On your SYNC screen hit Settings then General, then scroll down and hit Master Reset.
Also, when you do a Master Reset, any info or settings that you`ve put into the SYNC system such as phone numbers, station presets, etc, etc, will be erased so you`ll have to put all of that info back into the system.

Same for SDs?
The info you found on another Ford site is just a soft re-boot but sometimes that`ll also help so you can try that as well because it`s not going to hurt anything.
The Master Reset puts the SYNC system back to Factory settings just like the day you drove it off the lot.

I did a master reset to get FordPass working but my radio presets were still good.
