Spring roll

I had forgotten folks in the Midwest like to roll their lawns in the spring. But I’ve never seen an asphalt roller do the job.

Even out frost "heaves"?

Yes, smooth ride when mowing. But that guy doesn’t mow, the Lawn care guy does; who care if he bounces around? I’m still pushing 30” a pass.

Bill, I have the words to that song committed to memory, and have since I was about thirteen or fourteen.

"If you're looking for adventure of a new and different kind........."

It kinda' rings a bit more true today than back then.

I had never heard of the song. Not sure I had heard of Tom Lehrer either. I'm going to have to check out some of his other stuff on the 'tube.

I follow Mike Rowe on Facebook, and he wrote about the Scouts accepting girls, and in general how Scouting has changed. He is an Eagle himself. Anyway, as a young scout, he sang that song at a presentation before the troop parents. Much embarrassment and criticism ensued, but later in private the Scoutmaster whispered that it was the funniest thing he had ever heard. Scoutmasters have to be politicians too at times. Anyway, that's how I became aware of the song.

I wonder if that was the beginning of Mike Rowe's singing career? He went on to some accomplishment as a singer, before the voice-over thing, and eventually Dirty Jobs fame.

It’s never too late to learn a little physics, ‘specially if the lecturer is good.

Has Anyone Elso Noticed...?

Has anyone else noticed that FTE pages take a LOT longer to load than those of almost EVERY other site?

I know they are loading lots of other stuff in the background, as do many sites, but the over-burden seems to be almost oppressive.

What say? Is my browser the only one taking so much time?

Speaking of time:

It's a VERY long interview at two hours, but once I started this one, I couldn't stop watching it.

I think it was a very worthwhile use of my time this morning!

“It’s amazing what you learn by accident, when you jump into another language” (area where you have no skills).

Very enjoyable, thx Pop.
