Hey guys, I've been lurking for weeks now but I decided to finally just ask my question here. I've got a '00 F250 with the 2v 5.4 triton and it's been great and is still going after 300k+ miles but it's getting pretty tired now so I originally thought I'd just rebuild it and boost it with either a turbo kit, procharger, or even a lightning supercharger. Then I read that the newer 5.0 has the same engine mounts and bellhousing as the 5.4 and is already in the power range I want, so my question is, would I be better off (easier/cheaper) to go with my first idea of a rebuild and boost or swap a 5.0 into it? It'd probably be helpful to mention that I'm a newbie when it comes to engine rebuilds and swaps so I could be in over my head with either idea but I've got to start somewhere.
Specs: stock 2v 5.4 with a 4r100 trans and 4x4 if that matters.
Any answers, tips, tricks and advice would be a big help, thanks.
1. Boosted engines are always much more expensive to build (especially when you are not starting with one)
2. Boosted engines I do not prefer for daily drivers....higher maintenance costs and repairs (typically)
Appreciate the reply and thats what ive been thinking, as much as I hate to junk this motor I'd probably be better off to swap. Now to figure out how to get a coyote into my f250 and get everything working(trans controller and for sure ac)
