To start off, 02 F250 CC w/ 315,000 miles. Truck runs and drives well, and shifts into and out of 4x4 with the in cab switch.
Check engine light came on a couple of weeks ago so I pulled the codes with ForScan. I got a P1832- Transmission Transfer Case 4wd Solenoid circuit failure.
The truck seems to pull better when in 4hi but I can;t confirm that it does shift, I can hear a solid clunk and a noticable difference in 4lo. The only other thing wrong is that Transmission range Sensor needs to be adjusted but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
I don't know where to start with the diagnostics, any suggestions?
I don't know about the code number but mine always gives me that same fault reading when I scan it. My 4WD works the transfer case but I have manual hubs. Until it breaks I can't fix it.

Mark and OP, I get the same code on my e99. There has not been an issue for the last 100k miles with the code present...knock on wood. There was a thread a while back where the transfer case (TC) gave up and crapped the bed due to it being an early model TC which had some lubricating issue around the input shaft or shift forks IIRC which would apply to Mark and me but not the OP unless his TC has been swapped out and replaced with an earlier TC.
I'm going to try and find the solenoid in question and try to see if I can confirm if it's working. Does anyone know what kind of voltage should be getting to it or what fuse it runs off of?
Also, does anyone happen to know what the part number for that solenoid is? i don't want to replace it yet but I would like to start pricing it in case it comes to that.
Sorry for the late update. I got distracted by a leak in the oil cooler but, that's another story entirely. I did some poking around and I can't find the solenoid. I found the transfer case **** motor which is on the transfer case. No solenoid in sight, does anyone know where this thing is?
