Hi all. New to the forum here and already learning a lot about the Ford SD. Picked up an '17 F250 a few weeks back due to the fact that I wanted to tow a little more than what my '12 Tundra 4.6l could do. It also started having electrical gremlins I no longer wanted to chase. The truck I purchased is an F250 FX4 XLT 4x4 with the 6.2L V8 engine. Super Crew. 3.73 gear ratio. Looking forward to learning more about this truck and what it can do. It does have the up fitter switches which makes me want to start hooking up some new LED lights etc. One of the things I thought was odd when I bought the vehicle, (used, 2400miles) was that it was registered as a class 2 weight class. I had it registered as a class 3, not knowing what the latest class ratings are. (This is in Pennsylvania). The class 2 rating was only good to 7000lbs. I just weighed the truck at a CAT scale yesterday with my fat butt and the regular stuff I have in the storage compartment and it weighed 7080lbs. In PA, the class 3 goes to 9000lbs and the truck is 10,000lb GVWR. I'm assuming I'll have to be moving my class rating up to a 4a when we start pulling a travel trailer. I've been reading the manual quite a bit. With having a trailer to tow in the future, I'm assuming I can get the checkered sticker that I'm supposed to place on the trailer tongue area from Ford dealer? I have the BLIS system and it talked about placing the sticker on the trailer for the camera/computer to recognize. Or could it be any sticker? Loving the feel of the truck so far and getting used to how huge it feels. The electric towing mirrors are still freaking me out as to how far they stick out but I'm slowly getting used to them. Happy to be an SD owner!
Congratulations and welcome to the forum. That is a nice looking rig you have there and I am sure you wont be disappointed with your choice. These trucks are indeed huge and take some getting used to. There is lots of useful info on here and lots of knowledgeable folks to answer questions and get new ideas from. Good luck with your future mods.
