Bullet Proofed 6.0s

So a good friend of mine is looking to get into a powerstroke, he has about 40k to spend. I was talking to him about getting a 6.7, but its hard to find a low miles 2012+ (to avoid the turbo issues in 2011) for his price range. Hes been looking at bullet proofed 6.0s from powerstrokehelp. Anyone have any experience with them? or bulletproofed 6.0s in general? I'm a 7.3 guy so i dont know to much about it. Or any advice what he should look at for 40k? He's looking for something reliable.

I don't think there should be any problem buying a 6.7 with low miles for 40k!

This. Unless he's looking for a high trim truck with all the useless options he should have no issue finding a good 6.7 truck. However, if he does end up going the 6.0 route, Bill at Powerstroke Specialties (Powerstrokehelp) would be the only guy I would buy one from.

I've never owned a 6.0 myself, but know several people who have. With their horror stories, and the many others on the interwebs, I don't think I could ever talk myself into buying a 6.0 or 6.4 for that matter. With 40k, he should be able to buy any 2012-2016 6.7L with decent options and between 50k-100k miles. I don't know what you consider low miles, but to me a truck with under 75k and around 4 years old is a low miles vehicle.

Dealership down the road from me has several crew cab 4x4 XLT and above trim package trucks for mid 30s none of them have over 50k miles

With $40k get a 6.7. My dealer has a 2013 King Ranch F350 SRW with 71k miles on the lot for $40k right now, and a 2016 F-250 XLT with 42k miles for $37k.

With that much cash he could build an awesome 6.0. But you'd be spending $10k to get to where a $400 tuner can take a 6.7.

There is no such thing as “Bullet Proof” I love my 6.0. But I would go for the 6.7 for that money. As for as Bill, well I go with MisterCMK. Nuff said.

Your friend is going to have a tough time finding a low mileage 6.0L. Mine has 98K and is probably one of the lowest around. I'd probably part with her for 40K. +2 Bill is a blowhard. Probably need to get a 6.0 from a forum guy (FTE, .org etc)

LOL Yea I also have a 6.0 2006 Lariat with 64K miles on it today. Its a mean machine thats good to go but I wont sell it either unless I had enough money dropped on me that could knock me out, but 40K...... probably not enough for me to let it go lol

Go 2013 6.7 is likely the way to go. 6.0 trucks are fine if they have been infused with lots of cash.

Yeah - 40K probably won't do it for me either. Everyone says the 6.0 is a diesel but mine burns cash.
