This is a new truck to me, it is a 1988 F250 two wheel drive with a 460 and a C6 transmission. The previous owner told me that the duel fuel tanks worked. When I switch from the close to empty front tank to the full rear tank on the dashboard, the truck runs fine (assuming there is gas) and the fuel level gauge moves back to full reflecting the full rear tank. I started driving like this with the rear tank selected but ran out of gas after about 20 miles. Only to see it was still drawing fuel from the front tank.
where should I start looking to find this problem? Selector valve? Dash switch?
I need to replace the in tank sending units on both tanks as they are not good anyways. And i have the fuel pump/sending unit assemblies. I was hoping to run both tanks close to empty for dropping tanks.
