6.9l - 7.3l

Its a pretty straight forward swap the 6.9 and 7.3 are the same block. the only thing you might have trouble with is the accesiories alternator,ac,power steering ,etc. this depends on the year and how complete the motor is that your swaping in.
how may miles did you get out of the 6.9?

6.9l - 7.3l

RIGHT NOW IT IS ROLLING UP TOO 220,000. BUT THE REAR MAIN IS BAD. USES A GOOD BIT OF OIL. ABOUT 1 QUART A WEEK.

6.9l - 7.3l

220000 miles are not many miles out of a 6.9 ltr. Is your rear main bearing bad or is it only the shaft seal?

6.9l - 7.3l

I KNOW IT IS NOT MANY MILES. I JUST WANT THE 7.3L AND HOW MUCH WORK WOULD BE INVOLVED WITH THE SWAP.

I don't know why you'd bother to swap it. The 7.3's had more problems with cavitation, and I don't see the benefit, myself.
