New issue
Only Mods are the Banks Cold Air Intake and an Aftermarket 34 row Transmission cooler with built in fan.
ISSUE: Truck has sat most of the last year since the IPR, ICP and Pigtail issue.
Batterys died and are replaced....
Today I started it up after finding out that my coolant issues resolved itself, apparently a new cap is made to keep spinning ....good, moving forward.
I started the truck, fuel gauge said 35 miles so i was gonna take it 2 miles to get fuel....1/4 mile down the road the truck started shaking violently, dropped acceleration to 40 then 30 then 20 then died......Check gauge light and battery light came on.
Let it sit a few minutes and it fired up but idled really rough.
after it smoothed out I was able to turn it around and limp it home... it puked black smoke, ran real erratic, wouldnt go over 25 but made it back home.
Did not check for codes.
Google search revealed that maybe a clogged fuel filter is the cause. So I went to the parts store and got a new filter. Pulled the old one out and it was black full of sediment and debris, cleaned the fuel housing with carburetor cleaner and a stiff tooth brush and flushed the fuel bowl out.
Replaced the fuel filter, and cycled the key 5 times to re-pressure the system. Started the truck and it made some of the worst sounds Ive ever heard, puked out more backs smoke and then leveled off. I let it idle about 5 minutes, initial black smoke puked then the second rev produces milder white/grey smoke. a 3rd rev produced nothing then she idled normal.
I took it for a test drive and drove with no issues, I added a healthy dose of Lucas diesel cleaner and 6 gallons of new fuel.
Drove it back home 2 miles without issue.
Question: What do I need to pay attention to now? Did i suck trash or water due to fuel being so low? is my UCVH came loose?
Thanks Bombguy
In this case, hopefully, the solution to pollution is dilution. Keep adding and using small amounts of fuel to the tank. I would not go for a full tank yet, just in case you need to pull it for cleaning. Then what would you do with that full tank of diesel?

Thanks, luckily I drive a Semi and have it sitting in my yard... I have a fuel transfer pump that I can suck fuel out of fords tank, screen it with a fine mesh screen or the like then pump fuel into a 25 gal portable fuel can to be put into my semi...
Ya I wasn't too keen on a full tank either hence why i only added 6 gal of new fuel...
Seeing as Ford has this HUGE opening to add the fuel, is there any obstruction preventing me from dropping someting like a 1 in. clear hose on that transfer pump to evacuate its tank?
