Changed both fuel filters in my 07 6.0. Went to town filled it and the next morning started it up and the engine light came on and got a DTC of P0460 "Fuel tank level indicator circuit malfunction", I checked for leaks, checked the fuzes and looked underneath to see if any of the wiring had gotten damaged. Anyone else run across this? Thanks in advance.
How long had you gone since filling up last? I've popped the code before, since I'm harpooned I can stuff in 5 extra gallons over "full", and I filled up several times between 5-8 gallons to keep the tank full since it was swinging above and below freezing so often; the sending unit didn't drop below full for probably 400 miles and it popped the code. Cleared it, never came back since the needle started dropping on the next tank I ran.
Pretty common problem on people with aux tanks apparently; if you gravity feed the aux tank from full main tank the sending unit doesn't drop for enough miles and throws the code.
IMO, reset and drive on. If the needle still doesn't drop after 200 miles, pull the sending unit and check it.
