Transmission fluid question?

It is friction material off the band and/or clutch discs. And a bunch of it. I am assuming you are changing the fluid because you are having tranny problems of some sort. And judging by how clean the orange RTV is outside of the gasket I am also assuming someone else has had that pan off recently. Did you buy the truck recently? And are you having tranny issues?

Like Jefffafa said, have you changed the fluid before? Or someone else did? That sure looks like a lot of friction material. If you aren't having any slippage issues, just change the fluid. If you start to have problems, it's time to rebuild.
