Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping someone has an idea of how I can reroute the accelerator connecting rod. I installed new headers and the rod is rubbing on the headers and will not function correctly. My thought was obtaining a longer connecting rod and putting some bends in it. Has anyone come across this? Thanks
The 1965-1967 Econolines with the 240 engine had an accelerator cable rather than the rod. Everything from the pedal to the carb is different. Vic in Southern California might chime in here. He has some old ones for sale and can craft you a new one.
Search for accelerator cables for race cars and hot rods.

Thank you for the tip, that makes sense. Maybe i can use some pulley's to work around the header. Thanks again, i'll look into this.
Good morning all. New Guy here. I am NOT a mechanic! (needed to get that out there) I'm rebuilding a 62 Falcon Bus, it has a 1970 200 6. I just got my "new headers and have the same acccelerator rod issue. Dullboy? Thanks AB
The beauty of using cable is, you won't need anything else. No pulley issues or other devices. Just don't put any sharp bend in the cable and you'll be fine.
