VIN and Engine ?
Does anyone know how I can decode this
VIN number for a 1987 F150 I accuired
with a blown engine to restore it I need
to know what engine it has if it is a
351C,M,or W so I can locate a correct
replacement. 1FTEX15HXHKA25624
Can I replace the engine with a newer model
that has fuel injection but put keep the
carb manifold with the holley from the current
engine, what else would I have to change on the
engine so it runs right.

It came factory with a 351 Windsor. In fact that was the last year of the 5.8L HO. The Modified's last year was 1982, and the cleveland was never in a truck. It's last year was 1974,

As far as swapping in an EFI motor & converting to carb goes, you need to swap the timing cover, water pump & accessory drive to use a mechanical fuel pump. You need to swap the distributor too, and changing cams would be a good idea too. You could probably re-use all the external parts off of the carbed 351 that is in the truck to build a new motor.
