Hey, all. In a few weeks I'm going to have a few days to myself. Bluebell may be a clean original, but rubber, oil and time don't mix. I'm intending to do the front axle pivot bushings, and the radius bushings. The front end has become a bit 'clunkey'. A few years ago I bought the radius bushings for my old '96, but never used them. They were Energy Suspension branded and red. Normally, I use MOOG as I prefer the original rubber designs. However, I oil undercoat the truck in winter, and the engine does weep a bit here and there. Considering that, what's your take on the bushings? Anyone have experience with the Energy Suspension poly bushings? I just don't want to put new rubber ones on and find they might fail soon too due to being subjected to oil, which the poly ones claim is not an issue.
I put Energy Suspension Poly bushings on my '82 truck. Did my pivots you have to knock the rubber out and keep your shell pressed in the I beams as the poly bushing reuses the old shell. Made it quick and easy for me as I just put a jack under the I beam knocked the bolt out then lowered the jack leaving everything else connected.
I thought of going rubber but I am glas I went with Energy Suspension pivot bushings. Make sure you get their super grease that you apply and use gloves that stuff is real sticky and wont wash off easily. I did mine about 2 1/2 years ago and its still fine. Wish I could drive my truck but cant for the foreseeable future.
