Been using Mothers pure carnauba wax for years - NOT the cleaner wax. There are probably better, and a lot more expensive waxes out there (think Zymol) but if you wax two or three times a year Mothers seems to work well.
I wouldn't use anything but Liquid Glass. It's a bit expensive but well worth it. It can be used on glass, chrome, plastic or painted surfaces without leaving the typical powdery residue.

I've been interested in this type of product also. What quantity is needed to cover our trucks? I've seen the kits advertised but they don't seem to say how much area (one truck, two trucks, three cars, etc.) they cover. Would like to get a kit large enough to do my F150 and my wife's Fiesta.
Hi Guys, I use Collinite No 845 Insulator Wax Clear Coat safe Its a paste and Lasts a full year of Harsh Weather.
I Think 1bottle 16oz will do your truck and your wife's Car I put it on with a Applicator Pad and Polish it off with a
dry microfiber (cheese cloth) or soft cotton towel.

That 16 oz container should be enough to do both your vehicles more than once. I've used Liquid Glass, it's good stuff. I've also been happy with Meguires products.
Frankly, just about anything beats nothing....
Some guys go nuts about clay bar and $1000 hard coats. I've never had any issue with any of the products I've used. I keep vehicles for 5-6 years and have never had any problems caused by using cheaper auto parts store grade stuff.
Maybe it is more important to spend big bucks if you plan to keep it for 20 years.

I've been using Turtle Wax ICE since I bought my 2011 truck. Three applications per year have been more than sufficient. No issues with plastic moldings, glass or any other non painted surface. Two microfiber towels and about 20 minutes and I'm done with the entire truck roof down.
I have been wanting to try Liquid Glass. I saw where it had 237 5 star ratings out of 258; I don't believe I have ever saw that with any product. It is extremely expensive (16 Oz for around $60.00) but I may just give that a try. My current wax is Mequiars Ultimate Paste wax and it's not exactly cheap. Getting ready to try HD Poxy and HD Speed for a wax /selant and polish to use with my new Dual Action polisher.
Ha!
Me too, these days. I've had my truck for 9 or 10 months, it goes through the car wash once a week.
I usually have them hand wax whatever I'm driving approx once a year.
